DRE: How much should a mother in law be charged to watch their grand child?
My honey and I are just trying to get an idea of how much to charge his mother to watch our child when the baby is born. It would be for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for about 6 months. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!!

Why would you charge her to do you a favor? If she’s willing and able to care for your baby, she will usually do it for free, though it would be thoughtful for you to give her a little money to cover the expenses she will incur (gas for her car, any supplies she’ll need if she watches him in her own home).

Though you should definitely offer to pay standard rates for childcare — give her the opportunity to refuse your money rather than just assuming that she’ll do it for nothing.

You PAY her whatever you can afford. My parents and in laws would gladly sit for free. I would probably pay about $ 3 an hour.

I would pay her about 40 bucks a day.it would cost about 80 if it were childcare.

and everyone willing to make their mil do it for free…selfish people.
