Jacob B: How long will it take me to get physically fit for rugby?
I am 14. I have been weight training through the summer and rugby starts in just over a month. If I begin running long distance three times a week will I be fit to start?

You should be looking good. Do some sprints at the local park as well; and keep up a good healthy diet.
Doing long runs in the immediate pre season is wrong, you should do that to build a base fitness at least 3 months ago if you are periodising training. You should be honing your speed, (speed drills), recovery rates, (interval training mimicking the game) and position specific playing skills now.Answer by Kuruki
If youve been weight training all summer the long distance running mite not be the best idea, Do interval training, sprints. Rugby is more Instant bursts of speed and strength than anything else, Go down to ur local park grab a mate and start throwing and kicking around a rugby ball, At 14 years of age you will already have an advantage over most of ur opponents if u have been hitting the gym and training, Just remember if u want to be good and u want to hold ur own u have to be AGRESSIVE!
