Me: How long did you wear maternity clothes after birth?
I’m STILL in maternity pants and it’s been 5 and a half weeks…how long did all of you wear maternity clothes after birth? I quit wearing maternity shirts as soon as I gave birth but I’m still not able to get in normal pants, not even big sizes. I had a 10 lb 14 oz. boy through C Section, so my stomach got huge and now, it’s just a nasty flap of skin that isn’t going away. Ugh.

Its been 19 weeks since I had my little girl, and when Im wearing clothes I look pretty skinny.
but I still have that flap of skin also 🙁
you cant tell its there when I tense my stomach, but I dont let it bother me that much to be walking around tensing my stomach all day
Feel your pain honey! My daughter is now 7 months she was 8lbs 5oz, i still wear my maternity skinny jeans that are a size 10 but they were pretty tight on me for a good 4 months, now they fit perfect. I were mainly tracksuits and comfortable bottoms only because in the day it’s much easier as your kinda on the go 24/7 with the little one!
My stomach was horrible after having my baby, i had a natural delivery but it looked like a deflated balloon! Only now has it started to go down, BUT only because i do lots of walking with the pram and try to cut out junk food. It’s only been say 6 weeks, don’t worry about getting back into the pre pregnancy clothes right now, i swear i just stayed in pj’s at this stage anyway! Just relax and enjoy your little bundle and before you know it along with some exercise you’ll be back to normal.
Only with a little flap that sadly for some women (including myself) wont go away completely. Congratulations x
Answer by Vegan_MomMy son is seven weeks old. He was two or three weeks old when I started to wear some 14s. It was two weeks ago when I could fit into my size 13 khakis. Last week on Christmas I wore my 12 suit pants for the first time since May. I was very happy. As it is, though, I can only wear those two things, that I know of, as I’ve not had time to try clothes on. Yet, I have my bases covered for now– A black suit with one of my blouses for dressy, and khakis for casual and dressy-casual. I have a couple of other pairs of dress pants I’d like to try on as well.
For now, I’m good. When my now three-year-old was born in September, I was just getting into my 14s at December. (The first time I wore my favorite size 14 suit was to my husband’s sister’s courthouse wedding. Not only was it the first courthouse wedding I attended, but in my gray suit and fitted blouse, I was more dressed up than the bride, who wore blue jeans and a blue Tshirt.)
Both children were natural childbirths and I was vegan before during and after my pregnancies. I breastfeed, which probably helped with my uterus shrinking. Also, with my son, as my life is a little different, I don’t always get to eat when I want to, which doesn’t help in the nutrition department. (However, what I do eat, is usually whole real foods. There are times, like today, that not so much. We went to a Mexican restaurant for lunch and I had a couple of open bean burritos with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, guacamole and sprouts. The tortilla was questionable, which is why I only had one full one. I also didn’t have all of my second helpings of beans and guac. Generally, though, we eat at home and everything is as whole and natural as possible.
I try and move as much as possible, whether it be pacing the floor with my son, or doing what little housework I can do. (Before I was pregnant, I would do things like run up and down the stairs or take several trips upstairs to carry things; Put the laundry basket in my bedroom and walk to the other rooms to take items in, etc.) Once the whether gets warm enough, I’ll start to take the kids outside.
Answer by ~*~Rylee’s Mommy 3.17.10~*~For a month or so I wore maternity jeans. Now I wear size up from my “normal” size. I have recently joined a fit camp and have lost inches, not weight, but clothes are finally starting to fit right, and in fact I am finally starting to bring out my size 8’s! Looking forward to getting either my 6’s or 4’s out soon. I was a little heavier than my ideal weight before I got pregnant so I have pregnancy weight plus a few extra pounds to lose. Don’t worry about fitting into your “normal” clothes wear what is comfortable, and remember it took you 9 months to gain the weight so don’t think the weight will just fall off overnight. Good luck!Answer by Lauren
I wore my maternity pants home from the hospital, put them in a bag and haven’t looked back. I had someone to borrow jeans from that were 2 sizes bigger than my pre pregnancy jeans and I’ve worked my way back into my original jeans. My baby girl will be 15 weeks tomorrow.Answer by Kimberly
Girl, my son was 3 months old and people were asking me when I was due…LOL. It takes some time, maybe a few more months. You just have to get used to having a mommy body, especially after a c-section. You can exercise, that hasn’t ever hurt anything, but your hormones and such are still outta whack and your entire being has to get re adjusted. Chill with the impatience…it will get better.
