Ellysa: How fast does it take for a tongue piercing to close up totally?
I opened my tongue piercing around 3pm. When I tried to wear it back around 6pm, it’s impossible to get all the way through. Does it really close up that quick? Is there any way I could wear back my piercing without piercing it back?

You can take the pain & push it in. Because you just got your tongue pierced it’s like a cut in the body thats trying to heal itself. You’re body doesn’t know that you wanted it there so its going to try to close it up as soon as possible. It can take up to about 6 months for you to be able to take out your tongue ring without it closing. For me anyway.
i took mine out for around 4 hours when I had an operation recently and it didnt close at all but I have had mine for 3 years.
within the first year of getting it done though, I left it out while I was watching a tv show, (half an hour) and when I realised I had forgotten to put it back in, it was hard to wriggle back in.
so yeah..
and you will probably have to get it re-done again or push it through your self. safe way = get a pro to do it. =]Answer by Niansa
the tongue, being a muscle, heals unbelievably fast. 3hours is all it takes for it to heal up partially, if not completely.
it would probably be best to go back to your piercer and get them to pop through the new membrane that will have grown there. trying to open it back up yourself could cause some serious damage. your tongue is a muscle with important blood vessels in it, better to be safe than sorry and get it seen to by a piercer.
