Arina: How do you go about finding a pet kitten?
I’m looking for a kitten as a pet. I’ve tried going to animal re-homing centres but they dont have any kittens in and are also quite reluctant to give us a cat as we live in a one bedroom flat. I’ve tried searchin on the internet for local breeders but they are all for pedigree cats which are really expensive. How do I find a normal pet kitten? are there any websites etc?

The first spot is to look in your local newspapers. We went through the same thing a few weeks ago, but we were looking for 2 kittens to adopt. We wound up going to a pet store after looking everywhere for give aways. We found 2 kittens (brothers) and paid about 50 bucks US for each. Not much considering they have had their first shots and we got 20 bucks worth of food.Answer by johncassinari

Did you try in your local pet store? I know Petsmart adopts kittens all the time for a low cost. Otherwise look in your local newspaper under clasifieds. They ususally have a section for cats/dogs needing homes.Answer by 6TwistedWhiskers
Believe it or not — there is a ‘kitten season’ and this isn’t it!
There are a few kittens available right now but you will have to search a little harder — local shelters / newspaper ads / calling vets / rescue groups. (I would not buy from a pet store – notorious for having health problems.)
It will be kitten season pretty soon – starting in about April and going through the warm months. Kittens will be so plentiful that there will not be enough homes for them all.
Answer by gonecrazy_flI got mine through the newspaper, farmers always advertise because they have to many kittens. And they are free most of the timeAnswer by Zoer
Check bulletin boards next to your grocery stores, the classifieds, Petco adopts animals out, etc.
Good luck.
Answer by luv_kittys2000Try all the no-kill shelters first. The good ones will give you a kitty as most know that living in a one bedroom flat isn’t a bad thing. If you find nothing with that search, try the local newspaper. When you pick out a kitty, make sur they appear healthy – no eye or nose discharge and of good weight. I wouldn’t suggest getting a kitty from a pet store, and especially in front of Wal-mart. You just can’t be sure – going to the persons home lets you see where and how the kitty was raised so far. Good luck on you search – and remember to have the kitty spayed or neutered.Answer by rubytoosday
I can’t believe they were reluctant to give you a cat because of your 1 bed room apartment. What does that have to do with anything. If I were you I would watch in the News paper there are always kittens for sale and free in there. See if any of them are close to you. Have you tried your local human society.
