greyskies: What are some tips for training a puppy about bathroom and chewing?
my boyfriend and i are moving in to an apartment and we’re going to get a corgi puppy from a family we know. we’ve both have had dogs but neither of us have had puppies in awhile. the hardest puppy related problems i can think of our bathroom accidents and chewing problems. how do you train a puppy properly for these things?

at petco or petsmart buy wee wee pads, and spread them al througgh oout the room! trust me it works (:
Hope you aren’t too far up in the building. Having to wait for an elevator, etc – however…
House training: the best thing to do is to take the pup outside often and bring treats. Everytime he/she piddles praise him/her and give them a treat. In the case of not being able to make it outside in time do invest in pee pads and put them (2) for now in specific spots. There is a scent on the pads that dogs associate with the bathroom. Give them a treat each time they do the right thing. They learn fast.
Chewing: Ensure that you have items specially purchased for your pup to chew. Especially with teething (not sure of age) and that will take away some of the issue. If the pup starts chewing on something that are not supposed to CLAP you hands and say ‘NO!’. This is one of the easiest ways to get a dogs attention and correct them at the same time for many a thing. But make sure you and your boyfriend are consistent. The moment you let him/her chew on something and laugh cause it is cute you are letting the pup know that it is okay. You don’t want to do that.
Hope this helps
