Barkley Hound: How do I stop my kitten from climbing up my pants leg?
I know that it is normal for kittens to run around like crazy to play. My kitten will all of a sudden climb up my pants leg when I am on the computer. I have scratches all over my leg. I have tried grabbing her by the scruff of her neck and putting her down. I have tried squirting her with a water bottle. Nothing works. It is all part of the game. I don’t want to lock her out of the room. What can I do?

Spat her on the behind and put her down on the floor. I also use a rolled up newspaper and slap it on my hand to make a noise when they start to misbehave. Otherwise she will start to climb the curtains and everything else. You have to train a cat just like a dog or else they will be out of control and you won’t want to be around them.

just keep doing what you’re doing, eventually she’ll get the message. Is she by any chance a black cat? There’s something about black kittens and climbing people… Don’t know what it is…

trim her claws so that she cannot do that. ive used Soft Paws in the past- they work great and do not hurt your little baby, which i bet is cuter than a photo of kitten sniffing the lens.

Believe it, or not, time out works for cats. My cat used to bite until I started locking him in the bathroom. I’d let him out after an hour. He’s the sweetest cat you’ll ever meet, now.

Declaw her….or consistently toss her into a puddle of water with everytime she does that to condition her

My kitten used to do that too. Frankly I thought it was fun – a once in a lifetime experience. I just made sure I wore heavy jeans and a quilted jacket or robe. Kittens need discipline, but I think it’s also important to be a little open-minded and enjoy the things that only kittens do. They grow up and old so fast. I cherish the memories of those few short months.
One thing you can do is clip the tips of her nails so she doesn’t scratch you.

Swat her with a fly swatter and then put her on the floor. If that doesn’t work try putting her in a cat carrier every time she does it.

Good luck with getting her to quit because some cats are so stubborn it makes you want to scream.
