Fred F: How do you completely disassemble a Brother sewing machine?
I need to completely split a Brother sewing machine in two to fix a part, but it will not come apart at the part where you wind the bobbin. How do I get it apart?

Why put your hand in something you are not aware.Just call any sewing machine mechanic who would do the job in no time.If you try doing it your self without knowing it,you might have to burn your fingers.
You don’t. And for a reason. Sewing machines are very complex and if it needs a repair of that magnitude then you are best advised to take it to a qualified sewing machine repair technician. Look in your local yellow pages under sewing machine repair and you should find several. Don’t be what my guy calls a “Basket Case” someone unqualified who takes apart a sewing machine and can’t get it back together correctly and comes with the pieces in a basket.Answer by kay
If you’re determined to do it yourself, join the yahoo group “wefixit”. What’s the part you need to replace, and why do you think it needs replacing?Answer by Hunter
Are you talking about the bobbin winder that is built into the head casting?
This part could be held in from the side by a set screw. Kinda hard to tell you for sure without knowing what model the machine is
