Joshua D: How do so many religions replace Occams razor with Occams broom?
In other words, how do they invoke demons, holy ghosts, spirits, and gods in order to make sense of reality and sweep under the rug actual scientific discoveries like evolution and big bang cosmology?
I’m not saying that all religions sweep it under the rug, but they all do the former.

There is your problem, you blindly accept a theory that has no evidence to support it.

Excellent question.
Christianity is a syncretic religion – it, especially catholic forms, but also the very first generations of Christians, borrows things and unites ideas into it, while sweeping aside ideas which contradict the core of CHristianity – this is known as syncretism – though occams Broom works as well.
Basically – their main idea is that Jesus is the Messiah and Jehovah is god of all men who created the world – and any ideas or texts that argue against those points are blacklisted or dismissed or ignored.
Granted, I am a polytheist who finds creation stories interesting, and in my own pantheon’s creation story, I believe it makes sense that different elements (two world of fire and ice) collided to create life – it isn’t a replacement for science, but is at least a metaphor for the ancient understanding of life.
Answer by ROB HSorry, can’t answer your question.
I think it all starts with wondering what happens after we die and wishing that dead people were still with us. How on earth that becomes religion is beyond me – all the prophets, saviours, sacred texts, all the dressing up in funny costumes, talking in special voices and claiming to have the answers. Whatever poses we strike,we fear death.
Religion offers comfort, where science only offers hard work groping after the truth.
Happy days, and thanks for the image of Occam’s Broom. Brilliant. I shall use it and claim it as my own.
