Steven W: How do I recover my “Safely remove hardware” icon?
The icon has disappeared. I’ve tried the three options, always hide, never hide and hide when inactive, but none of them bring it back. I’ve got too many USB items to keep shutting off the computer and removing the item. I need the icon back. I switch between a PDA, flash drive, external hard drive, camera, mp3 player, card reader, etc., so shutting it down is out of the question. I already fried one flash drive, I don’t want it to happen to anything else.
Right clicking the task bar and changing the options doesn’t help … I’ve tried it a number of times.
I already have one flash drive that no longer works, I don’t want to do that to my PDA or camera or mp3.
When I try to eject anything, I get a message that it can’t eject, try again later. How later is later? 15 minutes? 30 minutes? Hours? Days? It doesn’t work either. This has been going on for months and I’ve tried just about everything I can think of and more. It’s really frustrating!!

You can remove your USB devices safely without this option of ‘Safely Remove Hardware’.
Just right click on any icon of USB device and choose ‘Eject’ from the menu and it would be the same effect.
right click on the task bar select properties and checkout the the hide inactive otion and click ok that will doAnswer by yad
