I am not sure exactly what steps you would take.. but to make it successfull you have to get things that are nice and sexi unlike some of the things in certain stores..therefore i think you should first find a designer that is willing to work with you. Now I dont know that you could get it at wholesale prices but i think that women would b willing to invest a lil extra if the things you are selling are cute and pretty.
Think twice about this.
Designers have gone broke trying to serve this market. While plus size women all say they would spend a little extra money to buy better, more fashionable clothes when it really comes down to it they don’t.
There are several reasons and I think you can probably figure them out: plus size women don’t like to shop, they don’t pay as much attention to appearance thus they’re not willing to pay extra and they tend to have less money. All these issues are going to impact you and then you’re trying to get women who don’t like the way they look to put on LESS clothing? I don’t think it will work.
Answer by roseb441702Well number 1 it would help if you had a business plan! Basically speaking you need to know what your expenses and income/assets will be so you will know how much money you would have to make to make a profit.
Are you talking about an online or offline store?
You can easily find wholesalers online just by doing simple searches but you are going to have to negotiate with them and you will have to have money to pay them up front.

Lane Bryant, I think carries lingerie, and even the major stores are recognizing that they have a good market for women who don’t meet the traditional-model size limitations, so you are likely to face stiff competition, should you try to open a physical store. There are many on-line purveyors of lingerie for BBWs, so you are possibly a little late for this market. But, also, the comments above may very well come into play, here, so be careful before you go try to open a new place in your nearest mall.Answer by Paul Ding
LoveYourPeaches certainly does well with premium quality attire for plus-size and super-size women, and I suspect you could do well, too.
If you want to open a store offering something nobody else is selling, you obviously are going to have trouble finding suppliers, because if they existed, other stores would be selling their goods.
Woman With, Roaman’s and Lane Bryant are offering the larger sizes of some name brands, but if you’re offering the same things they are, you’re going to have difficulty succeeding.
The answer is to develop your own store brands. With internet searches, you can find manufacturers of lingerie. Contact them, and tell them you want plus-sizes and super-sizes, and most of them will be eager to produce for your needs. Don’t assume that oriental manufacturers produce only shoddy merchandise; they will produce whatever quality you want.
Might I make a suggestion? Your retail store, at best, would service customers for a 50-mile radius. You’d probably be better off establishing your business as primarily wholesale. Your established brand could sell to Woman Within, Lane Bryant, Roaman’s, Catherine’s, and independent retailers all across the country – and eventually, all across the globe.
I recommend you join NAAFA. You’ll find others there who may have good suggestions. And don’t be afraid to use the word fat. Fat is a *good* word, no different that tall or short – and everyone would like a fat paycheck. Now “overweight” is nasty. It suggests that there’s one correct weight, and someone goofed. Fat, though, simply says that God knew a great thing when he saw it, and he made *more*….
Good luck!
