Brian: How do I get my dog to stop chewing up my fiancee’s panties?
Our dog, who is almost a year and half, cannot stop finding my fiancee’s panties and chewing them up right along the seam by the crotch. He knows how to sit, lay, shake, roll over, stay, and army crawl. But we can’t figure out how to teach him that chewing up non-edible undies is bad. Should we call the dog whisperer? Any suggestions? Anything we can do?

Quit leaving clothes laying around….Answer by G Man
You need to either train the dog or train your fiancee. Training the fiancee to keep her stuff up and away from reach of dog sounds easier. Unless she is blonde. Then I would work with the dog.Answer by ladybird
Dogs love ladies undies!
Don’t tell me you don’t know why!
Put them in a washing basket with a lid on & stop throwing them all over the house.

He is a dog. Dogs like nasty things (not that your girls panties are nasty or anything but you know what i mean) My dog has done the same thing before and if you want to hear a kind of gross story. I was sitting talking with my boyfriends mother when her dog walked in gaging and heaving only to throw up a pair of her panties onto the kitchen floor. Try to make a habit of throwing dirty clothes into the hamper as soon as you take them off that way doggy cannot get at the panties and your girl can save herself from the humiliation of having the dog puke up a pair of her underwear in front of company as happened to my poor mother in law.Answer by Ista
the dog whisperer is an idiot. If you love your dog, keep that man away.
As for her panties, tell her not to leave them in the floor!
Answer by bpbjessI think your best bet is to buy a covered hamper and make sure that the panties are always put where they should be! Dogs seem to have a fascination with women’s panties, and I doubt there is any way to truly get them to stop eating them. It is like leaving a T-bone on the floor and asking him not to look at it haha 🙂Answer by Agility Man
You’ve got several things you need to do:
1. Make sure your fiancee doesn’t leave her panties around the house–they should go straight into the hamper. Or she can start going “commando.”
2. Give your dog plenty of appropriate things to chew on. For instance, a variety of different shaped rawhides or nylabones or beef marrow bones.
3. The more physical activity and more mental stimulation (problem solving, tricks, training), the less bored he’ll be and the less mischief he’ll get into. I’m not arguing he’s bored now–I have no idea what you do with him. But show me a dog who runs 2-3 miles a day with you, or a dog just back from an agility trial, or a dog who went on a 2 hour hike, and I’ll show you a dog that doesn’t chew panties, shoes, overturn waste baskets, tear up newspapers, or play with knitting yarn. I”m not arguing it needs to be 2 hours every day, only that a bored dog is more likely to go “hmmm…..nothing to do…let’s go sniffing around the house. Wooo–what’s this? Smells….intriguing. Maybe it would taste good–let’s find out!”).
4. Take a pair of her panties and spray Bitter Apple spray on them (it’s alcohol based, doesn’t stain and the smell leaves in a few hours). Leave it in a promenant place for your dog to find (middle of the bedroom door for instance). Your dog will instinctly go “YES–look what I found, time to chew—oh no–this is nasty cheese–get away from me!” I’m not arguing it’s a guarantee but do this once or twice and the dog “might” start to associate your girlfriend’s panties as something to stay away from.
And yes, the Dog Whisperer isn’t going to be any help on this matter.
Answer by TracyGet lots of chew toys and raw hide for your dog to chew on.If you don’t catch the dog in the act of chewing the panties then he wont know that it wrong. Catch him in the act and tell him no in a loud voice and hand him a chew toy or a raw hide.If it doesn’t work then the Dog Whisperer is a great idea.Answer by bassetnut
Put the panties where the dog can’t get them.Answer by I ♥ my mutt!
Put her panties in a drawer that is above the dog’s reach.Answer by JustForFun101
i suppose you can try no chew spray….but it would be easier to put a hamper (with a lid) in the closet, and throw them in there then close the door….the dog deff. can’t get to them then!Answer by Really now
My GSD has this addiction and the only thing that will stop it is to make sure undies are in a basket with a lid. He is responding to her scent. My female doesn’t do this, but my male caused me to have to replace several pairs of undies. That was nothing compared to what it would have cost if he had swallowed the material and developed some type of blockage! A basket with a lid and close the door to the laundry room are the best suggestions I can offer.Answer by ozzy59
Make her keep them picked up out of reach of the dog. Honestly some things obviously should be solved with plain old common sense and a little amount of effort.
I have had male dogs both neutered and not for most of my life and they have NEVER done this or stuck their noses in an inappropriate embarrassing place on my person let alone steal and eat a used pad or tampon.
It does not take a lot of effort to pick up and put away ones things out of reach or keep themselves clean.
A dog cannot destroy what it cannot reach.Put these things up high or behind closed doors and there will not be a problem.Answer by U is for Uranium
It’s not the dogs fault…he has a “special” taste. Protect the panties and remove them from the equation.Answer by Rexydoberman
Just don’t give your dog the opportunity, put the dirty laundry in a hamper with a lid or in the closet. My dog did that once when he was young and thank goodness it did not cause an obstruction. But he did throw it up a few days later at the local dog park much to my embarrassment !!!!Answer by Offending Party
Maybe she should wash herself better down there
