How do female followers of the Abrahamic (Islam, Judaism, Christianity) religions justify the blatant misogyny in the holy books?

Do you religious females feel as though you should hold an inferior status in society in comparison to men, and that you should submit to the will of your husband?

I personally feel the whole “men and women are equal” nor quite right. Men and Women are never, can never be equal. Because of the obvious fact that we’re difference; psychologically, mentally, emotionally..whatever. We should compliment each other, black and white, not black and black.

Judaism was a predominantly patriarchal society, but there are cases of women rising to great stature. Deborah was one. The Bible is a history book as much as a textbook for belief. If women were held in inferior status, the Bible recorded that.

The New Testament elevated women to equal status with men, and formed the foundation for the modern role of women in western society. It was recorded in a patriarchal society, but the teachings of jesus did not favor men over women.

As far as Islam, you make the common western mistake of assuming that it is an Abrahamic religion. It is not. It plagiarizes heavilyt from judeo-Christianity, and makes specious claims to Abrahamic descent in order to lend itself a cloak of legitimacy, but it’s roots have nothing to do with the god of Abraham, and so should be treated separately for the purposes of this discussion. They have different role though…

In fact, there is a surah dedicated to woman…

And woman is Islam play prominent characters. Aisya, Khadijah, Maryam(Mary) etc. all of them are superb woman in Islam…

As a Christian woman, I know there isn’t any misogyny in Christianity, not by Jesus, not by God. What individual men believe is a different story though. There are plenty of women haters out there.

Galatians 3:28

Judaism and Christianity have women prophets. Two books of the Bible are about women, Ruth and Esther. Deborah was a judge and led men in an army. Women are to submit to their husbands in spiritual matters and only if those men are following God, because a true believer would be loving to his wife and never do ask her to do something she didn’t want to do.

Islam is a different story. Muhammad took women as slaves, sex slaves, raped them right after killing the men in their family but called it marriage. allah doesn’t have any women prophets – they are too weak according to islam. allah says women are deficient, make up the majority of hell and men are “maintainers” of women and can hit them. I don’t see how women can chose to believe in islam.

Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women).” They asked, “Why is it so, O Allah’s Apostle ?” He replied, “You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you.” The women asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?” He said, “Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?” They replied in the affirmative. He said, “This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn’t it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?” The women replied in the affirmative. He said, “This is the deficiency in her religion.”
