I don’t believe all that hype. Restaurants do go through health inspections; if they didn’t pass, they wouldn’t be open.
Depends on the restaurant. I’ve seen a lot of fancy restaurants (news, tv, etc.) that have been exposed as filthy and unhygenic.
The Dept. of Health just does not have enough inspectors to deal with all the eating establishments.Answer by A nony mouse
Microscopic bacteria from food you may be eating there scatters all over the restraunt when you take a bite, meanwhile, someone peed all over the bathroom, while someone cooking the food sneezed and didn’t cover their mouth. So on a day to day basis, it’s pretty disgusting, but not to the point of complete insane unsanity. However, a restraunt is required to have a helth inspector “inspect” every year or so…Answer by bn10493

They’re in it for the money….I don’t return to any food establishment that doesn’t seem clean and hygenic.
Try not eating fast food for 6 months or even a year…don’t even walk into an establishment. Then one day walk into your old favorite fast food and I’ll bet the smell hits you a different way. Your senses will tell you this is not a smell you’ll relate to food anymore, it has a sort of trade mark stink and you’ll wonder how you ate the stuff.

Answer by toneyou would never eat out again anywhere if you knew what really went on and the bugs, and vermin in restuarants…I once saw cockroaches walking acreoss a large container of of food that had started to solidify and rats outside fancy expensice upper class restaurants..Answer by seeker57
It is not necessarily the restaurant itself, it is the people working there. I went to a restaurant one time where my oldest son worked and he told me a story that broke me from eating out. A coworker dropped someone’s steak on the floor (on purpose) and stepped on it before putting it on the grill! My son quit after that because he couldn’t stand being put in that kind of situation when he knew it was wrong. He never told me if he told on the person but it apparently bothered him to where he quit. Anyway, just a story I know to be true. Thought I’d pass it on.Answer by cereous
Naw, most chains are actually a lot more hygienic than independent restaurants. McDonald’s in particular has really strict standards…that’s not to say they’re perfect, but they have cleaning schedules and procedures that have to be signed off on, so you’re about as safe as you can get. Independent restaurants on the other hand…it’s hit or miss, depending on how conscientious (or cheap) the owner is.
