They began the Nuremberg Trials. These were trials that tried (and almost always convicted) Nazi officers for their “crimes against humanity” (I only use quotations to show that these are not my words, but another’s). The Nuremberg trials were held almost immediately after Germany surrendered, and they were held near Nuremberg, Germany. During the trials, many Nazi officials pleaded not-guilty, saying that they acted only under orders, on pain of death. But because a man is responsible for his actions, even during times of war, most were tried and convicted (and either hanged, electrocuted, or otherwise). However, there are still Neo-Nazis and ex-Nazi officers alive today, and action still takes place against them. Hope this helps!
