millie: How can you make a ballet barre for practicing at home?
My ballet school usually break up over the summer holidays and obviously i’d like to make sure i can still practice at home. I’ve seen the prices for professional ballet barres and they range from £70-£200! And I don’t really want to be spending that kind of money on a barre if I could make my own one for cheaper?
So yeah, how to make a ballet barre for home?

Just go on down to your local metal shop or something and get them to make it. Thats what we did with mine and i get to choose the colour,….. HOT PINK!!
can dad or a relative help?i´d go to the home improvement store and look for a similar bar in the wood section.i know they can cut wood there to your requirements.you will also need the hinges to secure it to the wall ,so you´ll need that too.look in youtube for instructions, you find all kinds of stuff on youtube!
you´ll need to ask your mom what wall can you drill holes into!and of course it would be ideal to have a mirror, but those cost a lot too!so maybe you can get those long metal strips and secure it very very straight to the wall so you can at least check your movements.
good luck in your career!Answer by E-ma
Get some $ 35 bracket holders & a $ 10 bar from the hardware store as the ad suggests. Have your parents mount it safely for you.Answer by Kira Bull
well you could just use a chair or something till you get a bar
but to answer your question go get a metal bar or something like that
Answer by mintchips49Yes, you can get a dowel of some sort at a hardware store. However, you must mount it securely and you need to make sure it is enough away from the wall so you can put your leg on it an use it fully. A bannister bracket will not extend far enough away from the wall. Note how far away from the wall your studio ballet barre is.
*Edit: What E-ma posted would work for you, but you would need 2 single end wall mount pieces not the piece that joins two barres together as in her link. That is $ 60 USD for the brackets alone plus the cost of the barre, which would bring the price up to where you can buy a ready made barre for that amount without doing all that work.
