Charlie: How can i make a bike indestructable?
I am planning on a long distance biking trip. I want to avoid taking tools, and will have no money to pay for repairs. My bike will be a single speed with back-pedal brakes to avoid gear and brake problems.
Are there tires available that practically never break? Any other tips?
Thanks!
most of the people who answered this were jerks to me! i dont know anything about bikes, it seems you poeple could have been friendly?

I would suggest that you DONT GO! –
Good luck, I suggest that you drive a car instead. You better plan on getting a flat. EVERYONE does! And when its over let us know how many you had and weather or not you went prepared! I use Mr. Tuffy tire liners but even they arent full proof.

You can get thorn-resistant tubes and high quality tires, but flats and occasional mechanical problems are inevitable, even with a single speed.
Basic bike tools are inexpensive and lightweight, as are CO2 cartridges and spare tubes. I don’t even go on a 40 mile training ride without that much, because problems always occur at your farthest point from home.
If your budget can’t handle even the basics, you ought to rethink the trip.

you;re being dumb not to take a flat repair kit, it costs $ 2
and weighs nothing
or a spare tube $ 5 and pump $ 15
no tire is flat proof
gear problems
who has gear problems?
yeah i agree – just don;t go if you are determined to do it the stupid way

Answer by Bob AWhat are you in grade school or something. A tool kit with patches, a spare tube and a pump wont cost more then $ 30 – $ 35. If you cant afford that you better stay at home.Answer by singletrack65
How many troll accounts do you have?Answer by Marlarkey
Have the entire bike, tires too, dipped in polykryptocarbonitium. This will add some weight, but the bike will be bullet proof. How far are you going? A multi-geared bike would be better for touring. Going up hills/mountains on a single speed, with all your supplies (food, water, clothing, tent, bedding, etc) is really doing it the hard way. I’d carry a few tools (learn to use them before setting out) because the unexpected always happens. I hope you’re going to post your adventure in a blog so we may all be a part of your journey.
