How can I give my parrot (Quaker Parrot) a bath with out him trying to bite or fly away?

Lauren O: How can I give my parrot (Quaker Parrot) a bath with out him trying to bite or fly away?
My Quaker Parrot always tries to fly away or bite me when I pick him up to give him a bath. I only got him yesturday but I need to bathe him. What should I do?

You don’t bathe a bird like you would a dog or cat all you need to do is mist him with a spray bottle or provide a dish of water for him to bathe in. Never use any type of soap or shampoo on your bird unless it gets into something toxic or something that requires soap to remove such as oil

Use a spray bottle with a very gentle mist. Don’t necessarily spray at him (especially his face!), but spray upwards, above him, and let the mist fall on him. Why does he /need/ a bath? He should be fine unless he got into something sticky. Never use soap and whatnot on a bird unless they did get into something, just some warm water will do,

A healthy bird can clean themselves, either by preening or bathing in their water bowl. My bird personally despises being misted, the shower, or the sink, so I put a wide flat bowl in her cage so she can bath herself.

I give my birds a bath by using the mist setting on water hose outside in their cages, that way there is zero chance that they would fly away/ bite me. [ but I doubt my birds would bite me lolz]

He needs more time to get to know you. He does NOT need a bath so soon after coming into his new home. Give him time to adjust to you and his new surroundings, then you can proceed to things like bath time. Take it slow, or you’ll regret it for years!

He needs to get used to you first, and why does he need a bath anyway, Try using a spray bottle with warm water, but if not try getting a bird bath and put it in the cage and whenever it feels like taking a bath it can use it. Birds also tend to clean themselves

You would be better of with a clean spray bottle with lukewarm water in it. Just spray the water up in the air and watch your bird dance around in joy!

grab his beck and his wings and someone put the soap on him or water . Or u can do the opposite.

It going to take at least two weeks for it to get to know you.You never said how old he is?I would take out of his cage everyday play with him show him a lot of love. FIRST put a bowl of down see if he will give him self a bath. Let him get to know you better before you try. Quaker owner
