I’m sure most people say animal abuse is immoral…even people who eat meat.

People who are cruel to animals should be shot and I mean shot,EXECUTED !!!!!!

I would personally kill anyone I saw mistreating a defenseless animal of any kind,and Im not joking,send me to jail,I don’t care,as long as the act of cruelty is over,the animal is no longer suffering at the perpetrator is FKING DEAD !!!!!!

“Abuse” means different things to different people. So I would think the first order of analyzing this problem would be to clearly define “what is abuse.”

From one point of view, (e.g., some vegetarians would say) killing an animal for food is “abuse,” and keeping a dog in the back yard or employing an animal for service in a circus or making an animal work for the blind is “abuse.” Still others regard scientists who use animals for testing makeup, various medicines and medical procedures, as the most cruel abusers of all. And yet others (who do consume animal flesh) might point to those who conduct animal sacrifice as part of their spiritual practice before consuming the meat as conducting “animal abuse.”

For this question, I’m going to assume your definition of “abuse” is defined more narrowly — as the kind of behavior that creates harm without any motive to eat the animal. Your definition would also include torturing an animal needlessly, or neglecting that animal until its health is at risk or compromised.

Attempting to distance myself from this topic, emotionally, (because I love animals and find acts of cruelty toward them spiritually, emotionally, and socially intolerable) I would attempt to argue my case AGAINST tolerating any form of “abuse” from the most logical points of view.

For instance: studies have shown that people who abuse of animals, physcially, tend to progress in their depraved behavior until they begin acting out violently against humans as well. From a social perspective, animal cruelty cannot be tolerated simply because we don’t allow abuse of humans and animal abuse seems to be the catalyst for that latter scenario.

Also … what is the point of animal abuse? What does any society gain from harming a beast besides creating more depravity? With exception to dog fights and cock fights (where seedy people make money on the black market) there doesn’t seem to be any societal benefit from animal abuse at all. Meanwhile, there is definitely a social detriment in harming animals since abused animals tend to bite people, grow sickly, rack up medical fees and otherwise cost the community money when they must be rescued from harmful treatment or neglect.

Abused animals, when they escape from their undesirable living scenario, become a social nuisance … that fact in itself cannot be tolerated for it puts humans at risk. People who use animals for fighting often do not manage the animals responsibly.

Spiritually I would say: * By treating any living creature with cruelty, we harm ourselves*
