After I graduate from high school this June, my friends and my sister and I want to go on a cross-country roadtrip to visit our friends and see things along the way. I already mentioned it to my mother and she didn’t seem to think I was serious. I think I am quite responsible in general and very industrious in my research and planning, and these friends and my sister are all 21 years old. I want this to be my graduation present. How can I earn my mother’s trust and approval?

When approaching your mother to talk to her about this make sure you have a detailed plan of your trip, who you’re going with, where you’re going to spend the nights …etc.. this way, she will believe that you’ve covered everything that may concern her. Make sure to not be defensive rather convincing. Also mention to her that you want this to be your graduation gift. Good luck.
