Question: What is a good desktop computer to buy?
I had a Dell and it did its job. I just need a new computer b/c my old one literally fried. But I am not buying Dell again due to the laptop I have with them has been horrible. So what is a good desktop computer that isn’t too terribly expensive that works well for a mix of doing college work and playing games? Please give me suggestions thanks.

The best PC is a custom one. I am building one, and have been researching parts for a month. Pre built PC’s skimp on key parts like power supplies, motherboards, etc. They are not always very reliable and come bloated with too much unneeded software. You also get a better warranty when you build yourself because pre-build negotiate wholesale warranties e.g. 1 year. Individually, you can often get lifetime warranties and as good or better technical support.
I am going to be building mine ASAP. I am getting the parts from Microcenter and TigerDirect when they are on sale (Black Friday).

I suggest buying a desktop computer that is designed for gamers. Look for specifications such as high-speed processor, 8 GB or higher RAM, and the latest graphics processing unit (GPU).

I, also, have had a great deal of difficulty with dell. I used to like gateway until they were bought out by Acer. Ever since that happened, gateway and it’s parent, Acer, also put out pretty shotty stuff with bad business ethics.
Your best bet is Best Buy. You can wait and try to hit up some kind of 10% off coupon. If you do the reward zone, that can further benefit you. I had an Asus motherboard on a homebuilt computer and it always ran well, so I would trust Asus.
However, in the end, the best budget computers still seem to be HP. They may not be the most pleasant computers to work on, but the reliability of the hardware seems to be unparalleled in my book.
