C Lo: Family….?
I really don’t know any of my family members outside of my parents and siblings and two of my grandparents…I know my dad has 8 brothers and sisters and my mom has 3 sisters. I’ve always wondered since i was very young how come I would never see my aunts or uncles or any of my cousins. When I would ask my parents how come I don’t know who any of my cousins are they would always give me some lame excuse. Now that I am older I would like to know who my cousins and other family members are. You know I wouldn’t want to meet this nice girl and she’s like my cousin or something.. So does anyone have any good ideas or ways on how I could get in contact with family members when all I know is a name and nothing else?

If you have a last name use the phone directory. After you locate one person the rest should be a lot easier. Someone will know where someone else is. Then have a big family reunion at a State Park or something. Good Luck on you search. You could also look on line.

Well, you could express how you feel about not knowing your relatives to your parents. Maybe your grandparents would be more willing to give you information. Also, different ancestry sights enable you to type in a relatives name and find other relatives. It’s possible that an aunt or uncle made a family tree on one of these sights (Ancestry.com or Rootsweb.com?). You could also look up phone numbers or if you know a cousins name they may have a Myspace page.Answer by rainyday
your concerns are valid. talk to the family member you’re closest too and explain this to them. gently let them know you plan to find your family with or without their help, but that you’d really appreciate their help with this. good luck.
