I – personally – can recommend that you study the Holy Bible….which, of course, means Christianity……….
I never wanted to study any of the other ‘religions’ ……………

Answer by sirimore_the_mageStudying world religions is my lifetime hobby. To date, I have studied briefly about 30 religions and have an intimate knowledge of about 17.
The starting point is a book on World Religions. This will describe the basic tenants and beliefs in the major world religions (typically, the top 12). Any of the religions described that interest you can be looked at more in-depth after that. A great website for studying the texts of ancient religions is:

All religions are based on prophets or religious figures that were nothing more than regular people. Only Christianity follows the teaching of someone who claims different: Jesus was from above, the son of God (Buddha, mohammed Krishna never claimed they were God, only Jesus did). So all other religions are a sense; man made. Christianty is the only one inspired by God or from above.
Answer by Wood Uncut (unaffiliated)Beliefnet is a good start. Covers most World religions.
Plus the Belief-O-Matic quiz allows you to get an idea of what faiths your personal beliefs and values most match up to. It’s fun! Honest!
Either that or hang around R&S! Loads of different beliefs here beyond the ‘usual suspects’. Ask questions or mail others and ask for more information direct. I’ve learnt an awful lot from being on here.
Good luck!
.
Beliefnet, yes — Good choice, Wood.
I would also encourage you to consider opening your heart to Source, without a name and without a religion — just the energy that is the God / Goddess / All That Is with whom you are obviously eager to begin a more well-rounded relationship. Religion is tradition; spirituality is between an individual and God / Goddess / All That Is. Please keep that in mind as you try to narrow your choices….
Answer by MumOf4Start with writing down what you DO believe in, and go from there. For instance, if you believe that you are a valuable person, you could ask a Q on Y!A such as, “What does your religion believe about the identity of humans?”
First identify what you believe and write it down. Then write down what questions you have. Then start your investigations with the question/s that seem most important to you at the moment. Those inner questions are likely to be an indication of where you need to go from here.
Answer by C LeaSure you can see what other religions are about but don’t get all caught up on them. No offense to others, but Christianity is the true faith.Answer by Chibi~
You might want to invest in a textbook used by a world religions college course. I am pretty sure they will go over many types of religions without a bias to any particular religion.
