-Elevator Music in My Head-: Does makeup really make you look scary when you grow up?
I’m 14 and I wear makeup. Not whorish but I’m starting to experiment with it and use blush, eyeliner, eyeshadow, sometimes bronzer, mascara etc and stuff but not all at the same time. That’s too much. It’s really fun for me. But, there’s also the fact that I heard makeup ruins your skin and you’ll regret it later. How true is this? Can you wear makeup and still prevent premature wrinkles and such? I do wash my face everynight to take off the makeup and I use a moisturizer.

It will only look scary when your older if you continue to wear it like this when you older. But it shouldn’t ruin skin. :]
it does ruin your skin. i wore so much makeup last year and until i started taking REALLY good care of it and not wearing nearly as much, it was horrible.
as long as you take care of your face using cleansers and moisturizers it should be ok. try not to wear a lot though.
i really think natural beauty is the best. im trying to hard to look good without makeup at the moment.
best luck xxxAnswer by sarahh ☮ ♥ 🙂
well foundation is the big no no. here’s some tips
when you put eyeliner on, don’t stretch the eyellid with your finger, just try to stay relaxed if you can
use powder foundation with minerals, it looks better than liquid and doesn’t damage your skin
light coats of mascara, your eyelashes could fall out
don’t sleep with makeup, which im assuming you dont do
that’s pretty much it, just keep up the washing face thing and you should be fine 🙂
Answer by lillagahit sounds like you’re being responsible about it. makeup can mess up your skin if you wear it constantly, don’t wash your face, etc. but makeup is fun! try a homemade mask to prevent wrinkles, even though it’s obscenely early lol. i do, and in 18 ;]. i usually do something with honey, milk and baking soda. it moisturizes, brightens, and exfoliates, and you can make it in your kitchen. my kind of thing, being a poor college student haha. good luck!!Answer by Kathy G
always remember less is always more! always!!! little liner mascara light blush and lip gloss is all you need no matter your ageAnswer by Nurse Susan
1] Not true – makeup will not ruin your skin, unless you use stuff that is not non-comedogenic [ doesn’t cause zits ] or don’t remove it properly.
2] Skin care is what preserves good skin
3] buy a face wash [ NOT bar soap, or body wash ], toner, sunscreen, and moisturizer for your skin type.
a] wash, tone, and screen in AM;
b] wash, tone, and moisturize in PM.
c] add a rich eye cream in your late 20s
4] exfoilate with an apricot scrub [ your skin ytpe, again ] twice a week – removes dead skin cells, old oil, and dried sebum that clog pores; and evens out skin tone
5] eat well – avoid fried, fast, and junk food – even diet
6] take a good quality multivitamin with minerals daily
7] drink 1/2 gallon of water daily
8] DON’T SMOKE – not even a little; not ANY kind of cigarettes
9] wear sunglasses – prevents crow’s feet, and protects from cataracts too!Answer by christina_art_of_makeup
Okay, I’m not sure where these myths have started- but they are NOT true! Makeup does not ruin your skin, an unhealthy diet, not drinking enough water, sun damage, smoking- these things can ruin your skin.
The best thing for your skin is to cleanse and moisturize. I love the brand Philosophy which you can get at Sephora. However, if that is too expensive The Body Shop has great skincare lines also.
When you’re out in the sun be sure to wear sunscreen or a moisturizer or foundation with SPF in it.
Any liquid or cream makeup has a shelf life from a few months to a few years. When it starts to get that “funky” smell, it’s time to throw it away. That is when you know not to use it on your skin.
Don’t be fooled into thinking mineral makeup is wonderful for your skin. The main ingredients: mica, zinc oxide, and titanium dioxide, are the basis of almost every makeup. There are no rules on what makeup products are allowed to claim they are “mineral” so they might have dyes and fragrances you don’t want- so be sure to look at the ingredients. Mica has a reflective property and looks horrible in photographs, so be sure not to wear mineral makeup in photos or you might end up looking oily.
Have fun playing with makeup! That’s how I got into the industry!
Answer by piecesofme97Well I think that certain make up might be sensitive to your skin so be careful! My mom would NOT let me put on blush or powder cover up cuz she think its going to give me wrinkles but it just makes my skin dry.
but….
first. if you have zits or pimple use liquid cover up.
second. just use one type of each make up like mascara, cover up, eye liner, etc, so you dont have you to waste your money.
third. don’t put on TOO much make up because then you look like a whore. JK :]
^^ hope it helps! im justa 6th grader and i dont know anything !
Answer by roxypup05makeup doesnt ruin your skin some makeup may cause you to break out so you need to find a makeup that wont clog your pores or make you break out and make sure you wash your face each night to let your skin breatheAnswer by reinnya_nya
make up does not ruin ur skin.
it will ruin ur skin if u use a cheap make up or not a branded one.
be careful when u pick ur make up.
do not pick make up coz of it’s cheap or anything.
be aware of make up which contain mercury.
try to look for make up which made from natural ingridients.
u won’t look scary if u don’t ‘overdo’ it.
u could take some example of make up way from beauty magazine.
or u could copy the make up style from who u look.
like ‘ullzang’ style from Korea or ‘gyaru’ style from Japan.
it suits teenager best & make them look cute.

no, make up doesn’t really ruin skin. but u need to wash ur skin well and moisturize, etc…
like u said, just don’t wear too much bcoz u r way too young for that! enjoy being ur age, time really flies by when u r a little older! 🙂Answer by avrillavignefan002
Makeup will age your skin if you don;t take it off. But come on, who in their right mind would go to sleep with foundation on? I’ll admit, I leave my mascara and eyeliner on alot of times cuz my crappy eye makeup remover just doesn’t cut it. But if I wear eyeshadow, you can bet I’ll be washing it off before I go to sleep! And there is a right way and a wrong way to wear your makeup–basically, how you wear it determines if you look “scary” or not.Answer by MorganLeigh
use mineral makeup. it is the best for your skin if you are worried about wrinkles and such.
