JohnnyBoy:): Does kissing up to your professor really help you get good grades?
I think this is true to an extent. If a student skips class, gets Ds on exams, while kissing a professor’s ass, I doubt they’ll get an A, but if an average student who kisses up to the professors without skipping class, compliment their teacher’s clothes, and try to make conversation with them, they’ll most likely get a good grade even if they don’t deserve it, do you guys agree with this?
Please speak from observation, opinion, or experience, thanks!

Walnut Shrimp, ummmm, yes it’s true.
i’m going to be a sophomore, and i was really nice with my teachers. i never did anything bad so i got away with being the “class clown” sometimes. but i worked for my grades. sometimes i’d get Cs (GASP!) on papers, but i could easily bring it up with tests and quizzes– getting As, and i know its not cuz i was one of the “favorites” because we go over the grades. like we ask questions so he/she has to grade them all the same, but i do agree
they grade easier for the stuff like homework and what not, and you dont get in trouble for talking ONE time in like a month haha 😀
Answer by DinahNot necessarily; but, putting your ‘best foot forward’ never hurts. Be nice, say “Good Morning,” or “Good Evening.”
He or she might think that you’re up to something if you buy him or her stuff, like flowers, leather attaches, stuff like that.
Answer by bearcatIt certainly helps your case, but I guess it also depends on the class. I’m a science major, and a big portion of my grade in each class comes from tests that have defined right and wrong answers. How much a professor likes me won’t change what I got wrong (this can be a little different in more subjective subjects). Also, some professors have you put your ID number instead of name on tests so they won’t know who’s it is to make it more fair (only like 1 or 2 did this though).Answer by Cochise
Nope – not at all.
My exams are graded blind, so I have no idea whose they are until the grades are in.
Answer by Emily MA lot depends on the student’s level of sincerity. A professor can usually see through an insincere attempt to impress or flatter him or her for the purpose of getting a good grade. However, if the student greets the professor politely, visits him or her during office hours and takes an interest in the course material beyond what is presented in the class, and genuinely tries to get to know the professor for the purpose of learning the course material, that’s a different story. If the professor has discretion as to where to draw the line between an A or a B and such a student has grades that fall somewhere in the middle, the professor may choose to draw the line so that the student gets an A. If grades are set strictly by percentage correct on multiple choice exams, getting to know the professor is still a good idea because the student can make sure he/she understands the material before the exam and the professor is more likely to give a strong letter of recommendation if he knows more about the student than a percentage grade in the class.Answer by Magul
Yes, kissing up your professor’s *** does result in finer grades. It is a universal truth.
PS: Teachers are the most prejudiced people in the world.
