My boyfriend split up from his wife 3 & a half years ago they then sold the house. She will not consent to a divorce for one reason or another. How long is it before he can get a divorce without her consent.?
We bought a house together 3years ago & live in England. UK

Hi Rose, He needs to see a attorney. If one party in a marriage doesn’t want to stay marry anymore you cannot make him stay with some one he doesn’t Love anymore. He really needs to see a Divorce attorney.

5 YRS Is a damn lie, once theyve lived apart for over yr, shes been served, summons and or doesnt respond or appear they will contact her all methods even by newspaper and give him a no fault divorce, he doesnt need signatures from her he could have been divorced 2 yrs ago sweety- ,

hi there it all depends where you are in the world ,im waiting for the 2years legallyseparated from my xhusband and starting divorce proccedings and that is in scotland if 2 agree to divorce in scotland and there are no kids involved it can be done in a year of splitting ,look she is just being stubborn like my xhusband trying to make life difficult for you both ,go and speak to a lawyer and get this all sorted out and see where you both stand with this as the selling of the house could get things started for youre partner ,be patient and you will soon be free of the xtra wife in the picture and take care of each other xx

Once they have been seperated for 2 years, he can get a divorce without her consent.

He should be able to apply for a divorce now, he’s been legally separated from her for over 2yrs.

sorry but its 5 yrs so not that long to go try and be patient and dont let her know it bothers u that u guys are still happy as you are.

Defo 5 years advised by a person of experience.

The 2 year being apart is where you can put in for a divorce on the grounds of what ever but the other hald still has a say and would you really want them to have the last say noooooooo.

5 years is the time when they can do sod all

my mum and dad went through the same thing. He was a total @ss and wouldn’t sign the papers. She had to wait 5 years. Hope this helps x x x
