Im2hard2please: What type of crime is it when someone steals a car from private property?
And what is the typical punishment for such a crime?
Does it matter how old, or what condition, the car is in?

In some states it DOES matter what the value of the car is, but in others it does not. Auto Theft is a felony. The value may help determine the sentence, OR the charges involved.
Grand theft is grand theft. Doesn’t matter where you steal it.Answer by froggsfriend
It’s called Grand Theft Auto and Criminal Trespass and depending on whether this person has any prior charges/felonies, he or she could get anywhere from two years in prison and up. Nope, it doesn’t matter what the condition of the car is.
