w: How can I get a credit card?
I have no credit rating and I’m 24. I have two degrees and a decent job, but for some reason nobody’s willing to give me a credit card. The usual reason for rejection is “insufficient credit history”. I’ve never had a credit line before.

You may need someone to co-sign on an account for you, or open up a secured line of credit with your bank. That is where you put several hundred dollars in an account, then you borrow that same amount from the bank. Then pay it off at then of the month.
Check out this thread. It’s very similar to your question. In the answer section take a look at Martin P and what I wrote. Hopefully this helps.

Answer by BizsavingsTry opening a secured credit card to start a credit history. Some debit cards will allow you to build credit, check out ones offered at Credit Score1st. Remember to use the card to build a good history. Ideally, you should not exceed 25% of your credit card limit and pay on time each month. You should do this soon to avoid to many inquiries / rejections. After 6 months of paying on time, try applying for an unsecured credit card. Good Luck.Answer by ?
Start with a department store card. Something like Sears or Target. they are a bit easier to start credit. After you get the card, charge about $ 40 on it and then just make the MINIMUM payments, do not pay it off right away. After about 2 or 3 months, you can apply for a Visa or Mastercard and will probably be able to get one. You have to start small to get the big ones.
