Kara H: How to convince your strict dad to let you get a puppy?
I’ve always been responsible and taken care of my other pets, but he wont just give in!
I’ve researched dogs and found ones i really like. My mom likes my idea, but dad is the exact opposite of my mom. Please help!

You can’t. He’s your parent, and his decision is final. It takes ALL yes’ and ONE no when it comes to a dog. Besides, the more you nag and hound, the angrier he is going to get, and the more he will dig his heels in. So just let it go.

Tell him that it would be good to have one because it would guard the horse and keep the family entertained.

BUTTER HIM UP!!! Assure him you can take care of the dog. maybe you can Do chores around the house to prove you are responsible, or you can Take a friend or relative’s dog for a weekend as a “test run” to show your parents that you are ready for the responsibility. tell your dad things just to butter him up. also you may say your saving an animals life if you adopt from a shelter too!

Just show him pictures.
And gradually tell him stories about dogs.
Like loyal ones.
Don’t keep telling him just mention it discreetly :]
