my computer screen blacks out and my CPU turns off by itself after using it for like 5 minutes. It is very fustrating when i do my work and i don’t what to do with it! The CD slot opens automatically by itself when i try to turn it on after it blacks out, also, I cant turn it on… I must wait for about 5 minutes to do so..answers apprieciated..! thanks!

Check your power settings. Right click on the background of your desktop, then click on properties. Now click on “power” near the bottom right. set the power scheme for always on, then make sure Turn off monitor, turn off hard disks, and system standby all say never. then click on apply.

Sounds like a heat problem. Have you ever cleaned out your computer case, fans, filters, CPU heat sink fins and removed and replaced the heat transfer material for your CPU? You might consider doing the items mentioned above as a start.

Sound like your power supply is dead. Check the rear of your computer is the fan turning, is air being blown out? Power Supply’s run around $ 40. and are easy to install.

Looks like you have a big problem huh, it’s kinda weird when you said that when you open the computer after it turned off your CD slot opens automatically… That’s really a weird thing. But you know what we may give you the specific answers just give us specific questions like this:
1. How old is your computer?
2. What’s the specification?

it is an overheating problem listen to hear is it the cooling fan is working because it is funny how quick it heats up inside without the fan running I really am wishing it is the fan because that is the cheapest option
I would remove the side panel make sure no pets or kids in the room and run it resist the temptation to get too close don’t touch it if you are not worried about yourself remember static kills computers but electricity kills you, the hard drive should be quiet the fan spinning
if that’s the case its down to the repair shop for an estimate
