: Have a Sony home cinema speaker set. How to get it working?
I have a 5.1 Sony home cinema speaker set that used to hook up to a blu ray player, which is now dead. I needed a new player anyways, since it was American and can’t play UK DVDs
So my question is, can I hook the speakers up to an amp perhaps, then link that to a UK blu ray player?
Does that make any sense?

Yes you could all depending that the amp is not going to overpower the speakers themselves. I would suggest you take one of the speakers into a electronics shop you deal with and ask what kind of receiver they would recommend for you to use with them.
P.S. most of these HTIB systems have passive subwoofers so you may need to spend some money and get a normal powered sub for the receiver to work best.
