gossamer presents… Sarah!: Can the criticisms against one religion be used against all religions?
My point is, there’s a counter argument to pretty much every religion. In other words, for every religion, there’s a strong group of other religions that have huge arguments against it, which seems strange, because it almost makes all religions the same, in a way. Or is that just the nature of all things? Are all things subject to criticism? Why doesn’t anyone criticize gravity or why doesn’t every single have criticisms against it? Or is truth for something that’s unknown by most people always going to be something that people will greatly reject?

Einstein criticized Newtonian Gravity. Quantum gravity theorists critique Einstein.
Is there truth? Yes. Do we know it? No. Can we? Maybe. But the search is its own reward.
Answer by anonymous1_anonymous5no, because in a religion, there are the geniuses and the idiots. however, the idiots are the ones who speak out the most, and get themselves logically buttkicked by the other idiots in other religions, or a maverick genius who decided to speak out one day.
most of the geniuses stay silent and practice their religion in peace:)
Answer by ♥ Kattiee ♥Atheists will reject. Even if one man falls under that category, it will inevitably still exist.
Criticism and enlightenment are two very different words, wouldn’t you say.
Answer by snatchjackeronly abrahamic religions remain in this world..and yes, the criticisms against one can be used against the others because they are all plagiarisms of themselves..Answer by robbie
i don’t think soAnswer by Pablo
Well the “no proof” argument can be used for any religion. There are some religions that promote hate and ignorance more than others though.
As for the gravity comparison, there are repercussions to not believing in gravity. Try jumping off a roof and see how that works out for you. On the other hand, there are no direct repercussions for not believing in a made up god.
Answer by calpal2001Some people will defend their prejudices in favor of their religious preference. They will arguments against any religion to defend their own and to make someone convert to the favorite religion. Christians, Jews, Islam, and Buddhist do that often.Answer by SaintCog
No. The argument against God is fairly standard. The arguments against various theologies must vary. Gravity has been criticized many times over. Newtonian Gravity was challenged by Einstein. There are quite a few theories of Gravity out there. You are simply taught the easiest one to understand in school. The same can be said for the theory of the atom. New developments in quantum physics are just crazy. Space is no longer empty and things come into existence from nothing all the time. Truth is rarely rejected, with the exception of the religions of the world. What is true will stand the test of time. One truth will replace a current truth when it is proved to be more accurate. This is the advancement of science.Answer by Robert Abuse
Religions are totalitarian political systems.
Unelected shepherds pushing their flocks in the direction that they require to meet their own lust for power and wealth. They use myth, fantasy and fairytale as a means of control.
“Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful” Seneca 1stC.
Answer by JokerI just can not tell you, how much i don’t care!
We should not mock (criticise).
We are wasting our time trying to prove how right one is, instead of spreading the Good News with love and open arms.
Answer by SageOf course not!!! Time to realize that all the other religions and atheists live in peace and only one religion attacks them!!! Christianity!!
Christianities’ problems are not about atheists, belief, God or Jesus but about the intolerance, hatred and persecution from those terribly BAD Christian attitudes and conduct!!
If only Christians could rediscover the idea of a loving god and start acting like it the problem would cease!!!!
But of course until their attitudes change christianity will increasingly get called the “Nasty Religion”!!
Answer by The angels have the Bellevue.Your ‘criticism’ of all religions in this question is essentially using just TWO religions (Christianity and Islam) as your model for ALL religions.
Granted, those two make what they insist is a ‘strong argument’ against all other religions, so technically your statement is true. BUT most religions don’t actually make any arguments about other religions. They just carry on with the world as they see it.
Look at the polytheistic religions. They talk about their relationship with the divine, not any one else’s. Judaism is the same way – which shows that monotheism can be just as accepting. It’s built into our theology in fact. The only criticism Judaism really has of other religions is child sacrifice, a taboo that most of the rest of the world now shares. Buddhism emerged as a reaction to doctrines of karma in Hinduism, but generally Buddhists are more curious about other religions than critical.
Most western atheists, in contrast, are working from a model of religion that is based primarily on Christianity and secondarily on Islam. My challenge to them is to either be more specific about what they are criticizing or broaden their knowledge regarding the manner in which the majority of religions actually function.
All things may be criticized, but not everyone cares to do so.
If you do, take care that the models you’re using are as accurate as possible.
