My address bar does not keep any browser history. Setting in Tools is not checked to clear history.

Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+H and make sure that history isn’t getting inadvertantly deleted. It that looks ok, then click Tools, click Internet Options, click Content tab (at top) and then under AutoComplete click the Settings button. Make sure that the box for web addresses is checked under Use AutoComplete for.
