Ghost: What breed and height of horse would be good for me?
I’m about five foot one, weigh 149 pounds (about 11 stone) and i’ve been riding for a while. I like horses with a fun and firey temperment and I am willing to put time into breaking a horse. I ride english and I am interested in working on the show jumping discipline. What breed and height is best for me?
I am not a fan of haflingers, though I don’t dislike them. I do prefer larger horses, from about 15.2 hands and up, but I am not picky.

Probably a horse between 15hh – 15.3hh, I wouldn’t go too big.
Also maybe a cob or something going along them lines. Welsh section D’s are really nice too.
Good Luck 🙂
Answer by dressage artistI suggest thoroughbred. I’m short like you and I strongly prefer larger horses like you. But to own a large for your first would be very diffucult. No matter how fit you are, sometimes a horse is just too tall if you dont have steps. Thoroughbreds have a good fiery temper, but are at a reasonable large height without being too large and are good for english style’s.
I’m in the same situation as you 🙂
