meilin h: How can I train a cat from pet sheets to a litter box?
I was given a 3-year-old sphinx cat the other month. The previous owner trained the cat on those gel sheets, and I want to retrain the cat to use a littler box instead. How can I manage that? The cat doesn’t seem to know what to do with the litter and doesn’t like the feel of littler under its toes.

Put a sheet in the box, slowly add a bit of litter at a time over a couple of weeks if it takes that long, she’ll get used to it.
If it doesn’t like the current litter you purchased, there are always different types of litter it may prefer. Talk to somebody at a store that specializes in pet products.Answer by Snowhiker
You take the cat and put it in the litter box!! Take one of the cat paws and act as if you are scratching at the litter with the cat’s paw. The cat has to be shown what to do when it does get in the litter box. This will show the cat to start to scratch and then the cat should know the rest!!!
Make sure the cat does know where the box is at. Make sure the cat can get to the box easily!
Good Luck
P.S. Never heard of gel sheets???? Why would a person teach a cat to use them?????? Cats have to scratch and be able to cover their mess up. That is only natural for a cat to do!!! Make sure your have a scratching post even if the cat has been declawed. If your cat hasn’t been declawed it Should be!! My cat loves her scratching post even though she doesn’t have her front claws!!
Answer by sophylakeslay the sheet on top of the litter,, ( also,, get the soft, smooth type litter) and eventually, start cutting the sheet smaller and smaller,, the cat will get the idea… SIMPLEAnswer by michele 5620
Take the kitty into the box (of course, make sure she’s in a good mood when you do this), hold her paws one at a time, and make the paws do what they normally would do in that situation. A kitty automatically understands what you are doing, because kitties instinctively want to cover their poop. They are fanatically clean, and even with nothing to paw at, my baby girl kitty paws around her leftover food trying to save it for later so other creatures can’t see it. Cats do this in the wild, and even though she’d never been around that, she instinctively knew what to do. It’s in their blood.
