: Is applied maths necessary for doing an engineering course?
If its not necessary does it help alot? Would there be alot of catch up to do if you didnt do applied maths?

It depends which engineering course you’re taking as to whether it’s essential or not, but for my Electronic Engineering degree it was needed. If you didn’t have at least maths A level then there were extra classes available in Maths for Electronics so you could get away with not having maths A level. However this was not the case for mechanical and aeronautical engineering, for which maths A level was a course requirement. So check what the course requirement is. It’s definitely a useful thing to have.
That is a 1/3 of what engineers do all the time in the real world. I would think it was well worth the effort.
