Herr: What is a good answer to “What kind of projects do you want to work on in our company?”?
Most of the times, students only focus on broad categories like “marketing” or “finance” or “operations”. In case, I do not know specifics of what a company does in some particular domain, how could I answer such a question?

How about make it more environmentally friendly. Do you recycle. Paper,Oil,Copper,Aluminum. Is your water properly treated before it is disposed of. What about the water consumption. The amount of energy used. I guess you can take it from there. Also recycling once it is set up properly could actually offset the operating costs for the company. Have fun.

Try to find out what projects the company has. You might even be able to find out from a secretary. Take a look at their products or services.

If there is no way to find this information, be ready to answer the question by stating your strengths. For example, you could say, you would like to work on a project that utilizes your writing skills, or technology experience, or sales ability. Every company needs a sales staff.

Hope this helps.

Say you like to collaborate with others, work in groups when the situation calls for it, and perhaps learn what the company has to offer by working with different groups. This will give you a chance to get a well rounded background and thus narrow your concentration down the road.

Find out what the company does! Go to their website, read up on their projects. Use a Yahoo search of the news wires to find out where they have been mentioned. If possible, get a copy of their annual report and read it. Going into an interview full prepared is a must, at the very least it will convince your potential employers that you are interested.
