Abortion is a controversial issue in the United States and some other countries, but the matter has been effectively resolved in most. I don’t think it’s right, but I concede to the fact that sometimes women must make difficult choices. The Lord forgives all, and I don’t want our women forced into dangerous and sometimes deadly coat hanger scenarios. Hopefully they simply learn from their mistakes.
It is a political tool, a distracting wedge issue.Answer by Den
Abortion has been highly politicized. I don’t think it is right, but what can you do?
Each country has different views on abortion. In some countries it is wholly legal, in some it is wholly illegal, and in some countries it is partially legal (like the US).
I don’t think it should matter whether or not a politician is pro-choice or pro-life. I support Bob Casey Jr. (PA’s Democratic Senator) and I intend to vote for him, and he is pro-life (I am pro-choice).
I think every woman has a right to do with her body what she will. Women, I’d imagine, undergo a heavy mental burden when they even consider abortion, and that is because society has made it that difficult for women. If it were not for religion, I believe, abortion would be less controversial and “easier” for women who do not believe life starts at conception.
I also do not think it is fair for women, or abortionists, to be criticized for the choices they make in life.
Answer by AndromacheI wouldn’t vote for a party who wanted to further restrict or criminalise abortion – but that’s not really a problem here in Britain. In Britain abortion is legal before 24 weeks for non-medical reasons.
I believe women should have the right to choose. It’s their bodies, their decision. It’s not a question of abortion being morally right, it’s about whether you can say it’s morally wrong: that distinction ultimately lies with the woman. The problem of abortion is unique – it is a situation which something with the potential to be a person is growing inside a person. The rights of the person must trump any rights that a potential person could have – it’s not a nice situation, but that’s the way it is.
