Passenger train is traveling 60 mph. Freight train is traveling 50 mph.Answer by X X
Distance = Rate x Time
Distance is equal for both trains because they are passing
Time is T+4 for the first train because it left early. Also, R for the first train is unknown, but R for train 2 is R(train 1) – 10.
So D(train 1) = R(train 1) x 4T
D(train 2) = R(train 2) x T
= [R(train 1)-10] xT
D(train 1) = D(train 2)
Now, solve for R(train 1)
