Do moving companies work on weekends?

Hannah: My husband and I are preparing for a move. I was wondering do moving companies work on weekends?
We would be having a full service move (ie. packing, moving, etc.) It would be nice if one of us could fly in Friday night…pack up, and then leave on Sunday. But it would depend on what days moving companies work. My husband swears they work only on weekdays.

I used a local moving company once and they did it on a Saturday. I did my own packing and unpacking, though; all they did was load and unload the truck.

I would imagine any good removal company would move you at the weekend if they were paid a little extra. As with the biggest majority of workers, we expect over-time at weekends, so it should not be a problem. Look in Yellow Pages and give them a call.

Yes, they do work weekends, and you will pay dearly for them. Saturdays are overtime, and Sundays are double time. Make sure if you have them working the weekends that they schedule enough people to do it. It’s better to have more movers who will get it done faster than to have just two or three, have one no show, and you’re paying alot for a couple guys only going as fast as they can. Good luck! Don’t be afraid to call for quotes and see if anyone is recommended more than the others.

I’m sure they will. It will just take a few extra dollars to get them moving. lol
