: What are some serious zombie movies that actually intend to scare people?
For example, 28 Days Later was like a drama movie with zombies. And it was scary.
I have been seeing too many movies where the zombies are just about gore, and they’re not scary at all. Drama zombie movies scare you.

Dawn of the Dead (either)
You could watch The Walking Dead, but it’s a TV show. It’s pretty scary.
Answer by Hopp24ycatWhen the original Night of the Living Dead came out in 1969 it was a national scandal. Angry letters were written to newspapers, there were editorials in those newspapers. It was denounced by ministers in their sermons. Ten years later it still shared the pants off me.
There had been zombie movies before it. White Zombie, with Bela Lugosi, could have been a much better movie than it was. It was made in the early 1930’s. There was a movie called Revolt of the Zombies set in Cambodia, also from the Thirties. I have it on DVD but I’ve never watched it. Then there was King of the Zombies. It was kind of played for laughs. Kind of. It was late thirties or early 40’s.
I liked Shaun of the Dead. I thought it was pretty scary even though it definitely was pretty funny.
But if you take black and white (some people don’t I think it’s the best format for horror movies), search out the original Night of the Living Dead. I guess unless you were there you won’t understand the impact it had.
It had a bit more impact for people where I lived because it specifically mentioned my city and the hospital here.
The best Zombie movie I know is I Walked with a Zombie. Black and White. Early 1940’s. Truly creepy and no gore.Answer by ƭʅǐƿ
