Lady Joker: Gotham. New York City? or Chicago?
Im getting sick and tired of people saying that Gotham City was based on Chicago! It was filmed there because of its similarities to NYC. The directors wanted to shoot it in NYC but you cant shut down this city for a movies, due to its massive movement on a daily basis. Just think about it,
“Lady of Gotham or The Statue of Justice or Batman’s lighthouse “…”Statue of Liberty”?
“The night time in Gotham”…”Brooklyn”?
“Bijou theatre or Grand Avenue”…”Broadway”?
“Gotham City Stock Exchange”…”Wall Street”?
“Mother Gotham’s Bakery”…”Juniors”?
“Gotham City Library or Gotham Public Library”….”Grande Army Plaza”?
“Gotham City Bridge “…”The Brooklyn Bridge”?
“Gotham City Museum “…”The Brooklyn Museum”?
“Stonegate Prison”….”Rikers Island”?
“The Westward Bridge”…”The Manhattan Bridge”?
“Robinson Square”…”Times Square”?
“Novick Tunnel”…”Lincoln Tunnel”?
“Killinger’s Department Store”….”Macys”?
“Gotham Village”…”Greenwich Village”?
“The East End”…”Most of the triboro area”?
“Chinatown”…”Chinatown”? lol
And the list goes on and on. Gotham has been the underground name for NYC for decades. And the main name for the Lower east side of manhattan.
And what has Chicago got but the mere satisfaction of acting as NYCs evil twin sister, Gotham.
Most of my info is from…

Wow you must really be dedicated to go this length to try and sort it out. I heard they based a lot of it on London as well, if anything it’s a meld of different cities with maybe the most useful properties of them but can be thought as New York-esque because of the fact it has a lot to creatively use as well in the Batman kinda story.Answer by Lady Joker
