Ciarra B: Will playing rugby 10 days after getting a tattoo on the ribs ruin it?
I want to get a rather large tattoo on my ribs ten days before a rugby game. I play a back position so I typically get tackeled less than 10 times a game. I know they recommend no contact sports at all but what is the minimum wait period? Is there anyway to better protect it during the game?

A tattoo isn’t fully healed in 10 days. If you are getting thrown to the ground and you’re playing a rough contact sport then yes, there is a good chance that you could mess up your tattoo.
I really wouldn’t risk it. Wait until the season is over.
Edit: Ripping a scab off or scratching it can cause the ink to fall out or fade. Take it from someone who has uneven coloring in her tattoo because of accidentally ripping a scab off. And the ribs is already a really hard place to heal without any other added conflicts.
Answer by Samson Simpsonno you are all set…that tatt is IN THERE. you may scratch it though, therefore ripping a scab off. (if there are any) as long as you are comfortable getting hit in the tender spot then play your sport..i do mixed martial arts, and have many tatts…i fight sometimes 2 days after and they still look amazing. if you are really that worried, cover it really well, or just dont play. but i think youre all set.Answer by Mortal Wombat
