Cons, u kno u like it.: Why should the government recognize the ceremonies of only certain religions as valid?
Some on here argue that marriage is a religious ceremony. Yet there are churches that do and that don’t believe in same-sex marriage.
Why should the government give preference to only one group of the religious?
And if not does that mean that their notion that marriage is a relgious ceremony as it pertains to government is flawed?

You’re right, of course. The anti-gay marriage argument that marriage is primarily a religious affair is garbage, because many religions are happy to solemnize gay marriages. And atheists, who don’t want to be married in religious ceremonies, would be denied marriage entirely under their formula.
conservatives love catholics and evangelicals so much. I’m not sure why no other religion matters.Answer by No religion in this pub
As it probably has already been said too you already. This is why it should be “privatized” so the government has no say in the matter. Constitutionally they don’t, and those who do not recognize “gay marriage” would loose capital and followers.Answer by x x
Dumb question. Read 5000 years of history.Answer by pdooma
They shouldn’t.
Government shouldn’t care either way if a citizen is married or not. It should have zero bearing on how an individual is treated by the government.
Get government out of the marriage/civil unions business.

But they also shouldn’t refer to all churches by the same title.

There use to be NO actual church that believed in gay unions. They have only come of late, and why ? because of your progression of infiltration over the past generations. Churches have real needs in this world too, for some, they unfortunately fold under the pressure of concentrations of groups or they need revenue to keep thier doors open.
Some have tried to rationalize Sin by admitting what the Bible says about the lifestyle, but gone as far as to claim that they should still make religious support and services available to this new age way of thinking. In the end, they’ve given up the fight and decided to let God separate the goats from the sheep sort of speak and simply stand there and act innocent in the matter and try not to judge people. Problem is, the Bible is full of scriptures telling people to turn from evil, do not sin, kick a sinner out of your house until they repent and change, so these new age churches aren’t following the Bible as much as they are trying to make life easy on themselves.
So you can’t hardly use these few churches as an example or solid ground for your arguements.
As for the government, they will get involved with anything just to collect taxes on it, all politicians ever want is more money.
