I have a new computer running Vista Home Premium. This problem occurs when I select “Safely Remove Hardware” in the systray, and thenremove the SD Card. This causes the F:\ drive icon and all other card reader icons to disappear. If I insert the SD Card back in, the computer will not read the contents and the F:\ drive and other card reader drive icons still dont show up. I have to reboot the computer to get the drive icons back and then the contents are readable. Please help!!!! This is annoying and frustrating

It’s because the card reader (as opposed to the card itself) is treated as drive F. When you remove drive F, you effectively disconnect the card reader. You should right-click on the SD card icon in My Computer and choose Eject, then remove the card.
