There is no way to stop this behavior, unless you introduce him to a bottle or something else to suck on that has warmth. Your kitten does this because it’s the closest thing he found to his mothers milk. Nothing to worry about. If the other kitten isn’t complaining, then no need to stop em! 🙂
He’s nursing. He doesn’t yet realize that this won’t produce milk and will keep suckling until he’s weaned. This happened with my kittens who were also abandoned by their mother; they stopped once they were weaned.
Don’t worry if he’s hungry; if you feed them often and plenty, he’ll be fine; he could also be doing it for comfort.
Answer by luvratsHe’s sucking on the testicles because he NEEDS to suck on something! He should be with his mother until 10 or 12 weeks old, poor thing!
You can try putting something bad tasting — but SAFE — on the testicles. Vinegar, perhaps?
Also, see if you can find something else for the poor little guy to suckle on. The corner of a blanket, the hem of a shirt, a stuffed animal…something. I’ve raised many orphaned kittens and I’ve never had any luck getting them to suck on what I WANTED them to suck on — but some people I know have. Perhaps put some kitten formula on whatever it is you want him to suck…
Good luck and THANK YOU for rescuing the poor kitties!

If you can’t get them to stop (which, I’ve not found an easy way to do, although you can try bitter apple) they need to be separated IMMEDIATELY. If the kitten continues to suckle on the males testicles, it could cause SERIOUS life threatening complications. I’ve seen many kittens die from abscesses, re-routed urinary tracts and there have been some that have actually punctured the genitalia and the kittens quickly bled to death. Also, there is a high risk of the kitten that is suckling contracting other illnesses from the urine. This is a very serious thing, and is not to be taken lightly, there’s too high of a chance of your poor little guy facing lifelong problems and health issues or possibly death. They will both be better off separated; you can give each of the stuffed animals for comfort, heating pads, blankets. As long as you are there with them, and can stop the behavior when you see it, they can be together to play… but, they really do need to be separated at all other times for their own sakes.
Good luck!
