Disoriented: Why does my cat hates when i pet her in her side?
My cat loves attention, she can’t live without it, so i always give her attention and talk to her. She loves getting pet, but she hates it if i pet her side, whenever she plays with my husband she gets pissed off if he slightly accidently touches her thigh.
Is their certain spots where cats hate being petted?
I just thought it was odd, and wondered if alot of cat’s had that same spot. Same with her tail. She is the sweetest so it doesn’t have to do with trust issues, honestly i don’t think she could trust anymore 🙂 when i take her to the vet and she gets her shots, i hold her, and she stays calm even though she wants to kill the nurse.
I’ll just show my furry ball because i think it’s always cute to see than have a mental image of the little cat that hates her sides touched!

she or he don’t like it
Cats are just weird. I honestly think thats the best explanation. One of my cats gets like that sometimes with her back legs and she will just kick at you or get up and take off.Answer by o0pixy_stix0o
Different cats like to be petted in different ways. They all have their own ways of doing things.
One of my cats loves having the base of her tail scratched. The other cat dislikes it, but loves his tummy rubbed. The third cat HATES her belly rubbed. Just be aware of what she likes and doesn’t like.
Alternatively, if this is a new sensitivity. See if there is a bump or warm spot on her leg. She may have hurt herself.

For your cat it is on her side. I have a guess to why this is, but really only your cat knows why. My guess it that she dislikes it because that is the part of her that has the least flesh. If you pet her you will notice (as long as she isnt overweight) that there isn’t much inbetween her skin and her ribs. Like I said, this is only a guess as to why, but it does seem as though this is your cat’s “off limits zone.” If you think about it, we all have that zone. :oD Good luck with your cat. I hope she brings you many years of enjoyment!Answer by DPL06351
If this is something new I would discuss it with her vet and check her over for bumps and red spots. She may just be fussy about where she is touched.Answer by Honey
Cats protect their under belly and anything that “strays” close to that area will be swatted at. It’s ingrained mode of self defense. When cats surrender, they show their tummies and also it means trust. Maybe she is not very trusting. You need to gain her trust in order to do that kind of petting.Answer by LF
I have had cats that would give an attitude if I petted their belly. I have had cats that turned evil when the tail was touched.
The cat that I have right now has no problem with me touching him anywhere. He will lay on his back so that I can rub his belly. He lets me pet his tail, legs, everywhere! This is a kitty that adopted us when he was about 5 weeks old and I petted him all over his body beginning the day I got him.
As others have stated, it all depends on the cat. If you adopted the cat when the cat was a year old or so, it could be something that happened to the cat prior to you getting it.. It can be so many different things.
