traveler: Why do stores display and sell holiday items much earlier than they used to?
Get this! When I was in the gift store at Cracker Barrel a few days ago, they have Thanksgiving and even Christmas items for sale. A company I work for is even selling some New Years stuff already! Several decades ago, stores didn’t carry holiday stuff 2-3 months early; they waited until about a month before the hioliday. Seeing Christmas stuff being sold 3 months early seems ridiculous to me! Why are stores and other businesses selling and displaying Christmas and other holiday merchandise much earlier now than they did a few decades ago?
Thanks.

Greed and marketing. I don’t mean to be a “Grinch” but I find this overkill holiday marketing very repellent and against the genuine celebration of these holidays.
TO STRESS US OUT!!!Answer by JK
I was in a store awhile back, and I was about to say something about how early they had their halloween stuff out, and then I noticed that half the store was filled with Christmas stuff already. I think it’s ridiculous. The reason they do it is because stores make the most money during the holiday season, so they’re trying to make the holiday season start as early as possible.Answer by ♥ absolutely unsure ?!
It’s all about the almighty dollar…..Answer by † Baptist †
It’s sad that most places are driven by greed to get more money during the holiday season.
Although, I must say, that as soon as I see Christmas stuff come up in the stores, I start looking at it. I love Christmas.
Answer by Shauna2 reasons. One it makes them quite a bit more money. Christmas wasn’t really on your mind until you saw that stuff, but it sure is now. The other reason is, a lot of people are starting to shop a lot earlier because they want to beat the angry Christmas shopping mob. I am one of those people and it’s actually really great.
