Why do people see computing as geeky but not geeky using the internet?

To use the internet you use a computer right?
Seems a bit ignorant to me.

If you operate a computer to work on, or to do tasks you class as being geeky, but if your using the internet your not.
WHAT?

Computing is not geeky at all, its just stupid ignorant 80’s stereotypes that havent been let go by dumb individuals who still watch Saved by the bell.

computing is geeky becuase extra knowledge is required to do it. you may need html, c++, JAVA, etc. while using the internet, you work within the english language. when many request myspace modifications they mostly say “code” and never mention HTML……

geeky just means “to smart” because geeks know way more languages/information than the average guy.
