Retread: Why do celebrities generally lean to the liberal side?
They are rich, so they wouldn’t want more taxes. To safeguard their properties, they would want guns, and so on. The only issue that I can see them being so liberal about is abortion, which they would need a lot of because they get laid by random people every day. So why are celebrities exactly liberal? I know there are conservative/moderate/politically apathetic ones too, but celebrities generally tend to be liberal.

Political correctness, it’s pretty important to them, since the media is 99% liberal, and you live in a world where media can make you or break you… you tend to want to be on the good side of the media.

They aren’t selfish and have more money then they know what to do with so taxes don’t really matter, it will be taxed in their estate anyway.

Liberal ideas tend to be more focused on helping the poor so they lean that way.

Most celebs are hiding their money off-shore, Monaco or the Carribean. They aren’t stupid.

I don’t know why they are, but they weren’t always. Back in the day they were more conservative, and they sided with the US military.

When I was in an engineering program in college almost everyone in the college of engineering was conservative….but almost all the liberal arts students were libs…I reached the conclusion that they like artists (i.e. celebs) live in an emotional state where logic (and frequently just common sense) and an understanding of basic principles (such as in economics, history, and geopolitics) seemed to be lacking in their way of thinking. It may be the left brain/right brain thing…kinda like girls and guys.

p.s. not that there aren’t conservative girls, but on avg they skew lib like artists/celebs….sorry conservative girls to lump you in with the lib celebs but I think my position as stated above is not inaccurate

That’s a good question!
People have had lots of good answers and ideas.
I’d say that it has something to do with having things come to them easily, so they feel they can do things for other people. Kind of an exaggerated sense of optimism. They are somewhat detached from reality and feel that they can DO something to help others, and it follows that they believe that the government can DO things for people.
They lose touch with the reality that they are where they are because of their own efforts, (along with some luck and circumstance of course, but they still have to go and earn it) but they forget that everyone has the ability and the need to achieve and make their own way. Using the government, (which is a necessary collection of power and authority, and not a charity) to help people, doesn’t actually help them in the long run and is basically immoral, because you are forcibly stealing from one person to help another. That is definitely not a charitable act.

Of course not all celebrities are liberal but as you say they lean left. They may be wealthy but they typically are not business people. Show business celebrities gained their wealth on their talent, opportunities, and ability to deliver. But not on risk, investment, sales, and business. Tax a wealthy celebrity a bit more and they probably would not notice. Tax a wealthy business owner more and they have less to invest, grow and compete with. That will make them unhappy. That said, the business owner absolutely loves corporate welfare and pays billions to lobbyists so they can feed more at the federal trough than the other guy. So it’s a bit disingenuous to rail against the 1 percent of the budget that goes to Welfare while pocketing 20% in tax breaks. But that is what they do.

As for the average middle class guy on the street who is neither wealthy business owner or wealthy celebrity? I have no idea why they would ever align with the conservative agenda. It will cost them dearly and it has.
